Why should managers care about their employees' sleep?

Managers, do you care about the sleep quality of your employees? 💤

A recent study showed that employer’s care has a double effect: employees might wake up more rested, for example, they wake up less often at night; that said, objective indicators (actigraphy) show that they still sleep less [1].

If the manager took a sincere interest in my rest, I would probably think that they care not only about my work results but also about my health. That, in turn, would "motivate" (positively or not) to wake up earlier and get to work. 🏃

Accordingly, it would be tempting to respond more positively (e.g., in a survey) about the manager's influence on my sleep quality. It is possible that greater satisfaction with sleep quality in reality indicates greater satisfaction with the manager's behavior.
