POVILAS GODLIAUSKAS

I am a psychologist, accredited coach, and people (HR) consultant. I provide life, career, and leadership coaching sessions and psychological counseling for individuals and teams, working in tech and related areas. I specialize in work, relationships, and wellbeing-related topics. I also conduct training sessions and lectures on various topics in coaching psychology and positive psychology.

I started my tech career in 2015 when I joined Synergium Sweden AB, one of the most innovative translation and localization houses in the Baltics, where I led the HR team. Between 2017 and 2021, I helped senior IT professionals get hired by major tech companies and startups, including ProtonMail, TRAFI, Vinted, Wix, and Zedge.

Throughout my career, I’ve heard over 700 career stories from programmers, testers, designers, administrators, and executives. I realized that tech professionals demonstrate a variety of strengths, such as high intelligence, boundless curiosity, and a constant desire to improve. Yet they also face a lot of doubts, self-esteem issues, and relationship difficulties limiting their self-realization.

Coaching can help not only to agree with yourself and others but also to achieve personal and company goals more effectively. World-changing tech organizations are at the forefront of society's progress, so it is important to make a positive contribution to the mental health, emotional competence, and leadership skills of their employees.

APPROACH

I consider my coaching and counseling approach integrative.

This means that my practice is based on theories and practices taken from diverse schools of psychology, psychotherapy, and coaching. In this way, my services are more adapted to the diverse needs and goals of my clients.

In my practice, I draw inspiration from existential, humanistic, and positive psychology approaches that focus on values, goals, meaning, emotional processing, and the therapeutic relationship.

Speaking in technical terms, I follow paradigms, such as solution-focused therapygestalt therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, schema therapy and relational psichoanalysis.

Therefore, in my practice, I value:

  1. Accepting ourselves rather than changing our thoughts or behaviors.

  2. Making sense of unpleasant emotions rather than seeking pleasure.

  3. Taking responsibility rather than blaming other people.

  4. Developing strengths rather than fixing weaknesses.

  5. Focusing on creative solutions rather than problems.

I also follow the code of ethics of the International Coaching Federation and Lithuanian Psychological Association.
