Job interviews are not only about the questions we ask candidates. Equally important are the questions that we direct to our potential colleagues or managers.
Here are five questions to ask a hiring manager or (if possible) a CEO [1]:
1. What is the ultimate goal of the company (department/team) you lead? Or: How do you imagine the greatest success?
2. What have you learned in the past year? What are you going to use in the coming year?
3. What is your organization most vulnerable to?
4. With whom in the family do you get along best and worst? (my favorite)
5. What do you wish for the members/employees of your organization?
The answers to these questions can be either superficial and avoidant, or deep and insightful. Either way, it's a great way to see who you're going to grow with (or not) in the coming years.
And have you asked your managers these questions? Which questions do you think are the most worth asking?
